SEDC Donates Nearly 4000 Pounds of Canned Goods to Local Charity

Dunwoody, GA. December 16th, 2019. SEDC has donated 3744 lbs. of canned goods to the Atlanta Community Food Bank this month, as a part of its 6th annual Holiday Café employee celebration. The weeklong event featured giveaways and games of chance for SEDC employees while centering community involvement through charity.

Each year the Dunwoody based utility solutions co-op collects upwards of 3500 lbs. of food for St. Vincent de Paul Georgia, an organization that combats homelessness and hunger through community outreach. According to Robin Vogt, Director of Strategic & Corporate Events at SEDC and manager of the Holiday Café project, partnering with charitable organizations each year to give back to the community provides an opportunity for SEDC to actionably demonstrate Service, Excellence, Dedication, and Collaboration, the core values of the company.

“St. Vincent hosts a small pantry that supports some underserved pockets of the Atlanta community, and we’ve been happy to partner with them for the past several years”, Robin says. “This year they were fortunate enough to have a full pantry by the time we had collected our donation, so we turned to the Atlanta Community Foodbank which serves the entire metro area. They were excited to have the donations, and we were excited to help across the entire region.”

This year’s Holiday Café was especially notable for SEDC, as it hosted Dunwoody Mayor-Elect Lynn Deutsch during the celebration, who was a judge during the office Ugly Sweater Competition.

“As the soon-to-be Mayor of the city SEDC calls home, I was happy to receive a personal invitation to their holiday festivities. I saw firsthand how diverse and spirited SEDC’s employees are, and I look forward to seeing just how much SEDC and other local companies will continue to contribute to a better and brighter Dunwoody.”
