The 2025 Meridian Cooperative Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Meridian recognized the service of two longstanding Board Members who have retired from our Board and did not seek reelection. Mr. Tom Stackhouse of Central Alabama Electric Cooperative (Region 1), and Mr. Mike Williams of Blue Grass Energy (Region 4), have both served as officers and made lasting impacts on our Board. We are grateful for their service and wish them the best in the future.
Meridian also welcomed two accomplished cooperative leaders to the board. Mr. Keith Carnahan of Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative will represent Region 1, succeeding Mr. Stackhouse, while Mr. Brandon Hunt of Fleming-Mason Energy Cooperative will represent Region 4, succeeding Mr. Williams. Both bring extensive experience in leadership and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing utilities today.
Mr. Carnahan brings extensive board experience across the Tennessee Valley, including leadership roles with the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association, Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association, Seven States Power Corporation, Middle Tennessee Industrial Development Association, and United Utility Supply. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Tennessee Technological University and an MBA from Bethel University; and currently serves on NRECA’s Legislative Standing Committee and TVA’s Regional Resource Stewardship Council.
Mr. Hunt brings 20 years of cooperative experience and a broad background in utility technology and software to his new position. Under his leadership, he has advanced strategic initiatives centered on technological innovation to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective power. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and is a registered professional engineer.
The membership also reelected Mr. John Bartley of Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative to continue his valued service in his At Large position. Mr. Bartley’s experience and strong financial acumen will continue to help guide Meridian forward as it strives to be the most regarded and flexible technology partner for utilities.
